Individual and Private Consultations

We offer consultation services for stakeholders who are interested in discussing topics related to teaching and learning. Two types of consultations are available: confidential individual consultation or group consultation.

Individual Consultation

What is individual consultation?

Any stakeholder can request a meeting to discuss issues related to teaching and learning. This service is available for all stakeholders, full and part-time as well as teaching assistants. The frequency and length of consultations vary according to instructor needs. Confidentiality is assured.

Why would I consult?

  1. To obtain information on new teaching methods or evaluation techniques you might wish to implement in your course.
  2. To work on any component of your teaching process (planning, teaching methods, evaluation, etc.).
  3. To discuss difficulties you may have encountered while teaching (e.g. difficulty motivating students’ participation, giving or receiving feedback, etc.) and means to solve them.
  4. To discuss the results of your student course evaluations and to develop instructional strategies that may help improve your teaching or your students’ learning.
  5. To discuss any other subject related to teaching and student learning.
  6. To develop and prepare a teaching dossier.

Whatever your instructional needs, we will be happy to discuss them with you confidentially.

Group Consultations

What is group consultation?

Our members can meet with a group of professors or, in some cases, with a professor representing a group of colleagues. This service is also available to all stakeholders wishing to discuss matters related to teaching and learning or to work on specific projects related to teaching and learning. The frequency and the length of the consultation can vary according to needs.

Who consults and why?

  1. Stakeholders who teach the same course and decide to change some aspects of it, for example evaluation tools or strategies.
  2. Stakeholders from a department who share a common interest, for example, course assessment methods or getting feedback in class. At the request of stakeholders, we can organize a workshop and a discussion for all the instructors in the department.
  3. Stakeholders who wish to conduct a survey among students, develop new courses, make curricular changes, etc.
  4. Stakeholders who wish to arrange an instructional development program for staff (e.g. course design, developing multiple-choice tests, etc.).

Whatever your needs are in terms of teaching, we will be happy to collaborate with stakeholders and help find appropriate resources.
